David Goodman is a Senior Identity Management Strategist in IBM’s Software Group working with IBM Tivoli’s security product portfolio. Prior to its acquisition by IBM, David was Chief Marketing Officer for Metamerge, a company providing integration middleware for identity and resource management. Previously, David spent six years as Senior Product Manager with responsibility for directories at Lotus Development, an IBM company. David is a well-known and highly-respected worldwide authority on the subject of identity and identity-related issues, and has published numerous papers on these subjects over the past fourteen years. He is chairman of the eema board of directors as well as chairman of the eema identity technologies and services interest group that provides an independent forum for collaborative project work and an annual two-day seminar. David holds a BA degree in Oriental Studies from the University of Manchester, and a D.Phil from the Oriental Institute at the University of Oxford. After graduating from Oxford, David joined University College London in 1986 and served as contracts manager for all external sources of research funding and technology transfer. In 1990, he joined the Department of Computer Science at University College London and managed PARADISE, the international X.500 directory pilot. From 1992 to 1994 he also managed PASSWORD, a European pilot for authentication and security services based on X.509. Both PARADISE and PASSWORD were European Commission funded projects.
